A brief introduction to maintenance of common faults in ice machines:

(A) Recommended maintenance procedure during common failure symptoms:
1. The compressor is working but not cooling. Cause of the malfunction:  Refrigerant leakage or possible failure of the two-way electromagnetic (solenoid) valve.

Maintenance method: After leak detection, replace leaked refrigerant or replace the solenoid valve.
2. The compressor has been working to refrigerate, the water pump is working to and the ice is getting thicker, but it can not automatically enter the ice-removal program to discharge the ice.
Failure causes: Water temperature measuring probe failure which has disabled the intelligent control system and hence cannot effectively sense the water temperature and work, misjudgment program error, or controller failure.
Maintenance Method: Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the water temperature probe (when the water temperature in the tank is close to 0°C, unplug the three-core wire in the control box and test the resistance of the two wires on both sides). If it shows a value above 27K, it is judged that the controller is bad and should be replaced. If the resistance is lower than 27K, you must disconnect any one of the two wires. Through the series resistance, adjust the resistance between 27K to 28K.

3. The ice maker machine enters the deicing program (the pump stops working and the compressor stops cooling) but the ice does not fall off. Fault cause: Two-way solenoid valve is damaged.
Maintenance method: Replace the solenoid valve body or the outer coil.

4. Ice maker water shortage indicator lights up but the machine does not automatically fill the water. Cause of failure: No water in pipeline or inlet solenoid valve is faulty hence the valve does not open.
Ice machine maintenance methods: Check the pipeline water flow conditions, If there is no water, open the water channel and restart. If the inlet solenoid valve is faulty, replace it.

5. The ice maker compressor is working but the pump is not working (no flow). Cause of the malfunction: The pump is damaged or the inside of the pump is fouled.
Ice machine maintenance methods: Clean water pump or replace.

(B) Faults identification according to the ice maker's indicator lights:

1. The ice maker's power indicator light blinks rapidly. Machine does not work: Cause: The water temperature probe is open.
Ice machine maintenance methods: Open the rear cover, open the electrical control box cover above the compressor, find a three-core connector and check if contact is lost. Re-plug it and start the machine.

2. Three ice lamps of the ice maker flash in a cycle, the machine does not work: Causes of failure: The machine makes ice and ice is not normal; Maintenance method: Restart the machine.

3. The ice maker first checks whether the fan and the pump are working properly. If any abnormality is eliminated, check whether the compressor has started work. If it does not work, check the controller and the accessories of the compressor; if it is started, judge the cooling. System failure, according to the corresponding maintenance methods.

4. If the refrigeration system is not faulty, it can normally make ice, but it will not perform ice removal until the ice is produced. After 90 minutes, the machine will perform a protective shutdown due to abnormal operation. Need to use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the water temperature probe (When the water temperature in the tank is close to 0 degrees, unplug the three conductors in the control box and measure the resistance of the two wires on both sides). If the resistance is above 27K, it means that the controller is bad and should be replaced. If the resistance is lower than 27K, you must disconnect any one of the two wires and adjust the resistance between 27K to 28K through the series resistance.

5. Ice maker flashes quickly with bright light. Cause of failure: Indicates that the ice removal time exceeds the specified time and the machine is automatically protected.
Ice machine maintenance method: In general, this kind of situation can be restarted. If it appears repeatedly, check whether the skating board moves up and down flexibly.
If the two-way solenoid valve is damaged, this phenomenon can also occur, the machine will cool, but the water pump stops working when the ice reaches the set thickness and enters the deicing state, and the ice lumps do not fall off. Here forced ice removal is used during inspection process (press and hold the selection key for a long time. 3 seconds) If there is no sound of airflow in the ice maker, it may be considered that the two-way solenoid valve is bad. Check whether the solenoid valve power supply is normal. If the power supply is normal, replace the coil test machine. The valve body itself cannot be opened.

6. There is no water in the water tank of the ice maker, no water shortage is shown, and there are impurities in the ice. Maintenance: The fault is because the water in the tank will leave impurities after multiple ice making, or the water is rich in minerals, which will foul the surface of the water level probe and affect its detection sensitivity. Drain residual water inside the tank and clean the probe surface.

7. There is water in the ice maker water tank but its indicating lack of water. Maintenance method: Check whether the two-core and three-core connectors in the control box are reliably connected. Re-insertion can generally solve the problem.

7. Ice maker water spray pipe is not smooth, part of the ice is not complete: Causes of failure: spray hole plug.
Maintenance method: Clean the debris on the water outlet hole of the water spray pipe with tweezers or other sharp objects until the flow of water in each hole is clear.

8. The ice making mechanism is normal but the ice is difficult to remove or does not remove ice: Causes of failure: The two-way solenoid valve is not working or stuck;
Maintenance method: After the ice maker is started, after the ice block is produced on the ice maker, long press the select button for 3 seconds to enter the forced ice removal state. The electromagnetic valve is touched by the hand. If it does not vibrate, it indicates that the solenoid valve is not normal. Check the control board and wiring. If there is vibration, the ice can be removed several times repeatedly, which can solve the problem of partial electromagnetic valve seizure. If there is still a problem, the solenoid valve is damaged and needs replacement.

(C) Ice machine refrigeration system is not cooling or poor cooling fault diagnosis and maintenance methods
Failure Analysis:
1. If the process tube is cut off, no refrigerant is discharged, or if there is visible oil traces on the pipe joint, its an indication of leakage within the refrigeration.

2. If the process tube is cut/damaged and the refrigerant is discharged, the cooling system can be judged as dirty.

3. The compressor is bad (high pressure pipe does not exhaust).

4. In the cooling process of the ice maker, there is a large airflow sound inside the evaporator, and it can be judged as the de-icing solenoid valve.

5. Ice machine refrigeration system, micro leakage, cut off the process tube and discharge a small amount of refrigerant.

(D) Ice machine maintenance methods:
1. Re-welding process pipe and pressure leak detection. Find the leak to repair welding, vacuum it and add liquid.

2. The ice maker re-welds the process tube and finds the location of the dirty plug, typically at the capillary inlet. Remove and refill.

3. Replacement compressor.

4. Forcing the machine to remove ice (press and hold the select button for 3 seconds). In the process of deicing, tap the valve body. If it is caused by small impurities it can be ruled out. If not, replace the valve body.

5. Ice machine re-welding process pipe, and pressure leak detection. Find the leak to repair welding, and then add vacuum and add liquid.
